White border

Croeso. Welcome to the North Wales Conservative site which acts a focus for Conservatism across North Wales. Welsh Conservatives are proud of their community based Conservatism and our representatives across the region are deeply involved in local issues.

Currently we have 1 MP, David Jones, who represents Clwyd West but 2 further parliamentary constituencies are marginal with Welsh Conservatives as the main contenders. We have 2 regional AMs (Assembly Members), Brynle Williams and Mark Isherwood. We have numerous councillors across the region and we jointly run Denbighshire County Council and Conwy County Borough Council with the Independents. We made siginificant gains in the 2004 council elections.

North Wales is a diverse region, largely rural in nature with a distinct coastal belt of more urban areas. The whole region is an important scenic countryside destination largely upland in geography. The North East of the region has more major industry, such as Airbus, Toyota and Corus and has closer ties with England.

Centrally to the region small and medium sized industry and farming is interspersed with large numbers of tourist based businesses such as at Llandudno. To the west we have a major seat of learning at Bangor University and other industries such as aluminium, energy, military and maritime. Across the region the Welsh language has enjoyed some encouraging growth thanks to the Welsh Language Act and the language and culture is taught in our schools. Next year the Eistedffordd will be held in Mold.
